BOA is a worldwide operating- and Trondheim-based company, providing services to the marine, offshore oil and gas, and wind industry, with a fleet of 40 barges, tugs and offshore vessels. Example projects include launching, transportation and installation of modules, vessels, foundation structures and caissons, drydocking, towing and salvage operations. The company also designs own barges based on soon 50-years long experience.
These projects, often complex and technically challenging are supported by an engineering department, which plans the operations, performs analysis work and feasibility studies within the domains of hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, and structural design and analysis.
For the engineering department we are now looking for a 3rd or 4th year student to contribute to these activities. Main tasks for the position will relate to our barge newbuilding activities and will focus on structural and outfitting / equipment weight calculations and modeling in Inventor, Rhinoceros or Autocad. Experience with one of these programs is required, in addition to a good understanding within Marine Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field, and personal skills: good team-player but managing to work independently and proactively, structured, and well-organized.
The engagement is planned for the summer 2024, preferably between mid-June and mid-August.
